The Andrews Sisters, BEER BARREL POLKA is Decca #2462A, with WELL, All RIGHT! on the B side, was recorded in NYC on May 3, 1939. The Odeon label (Argentina) gives the Spanish version, El Barrilito de Cerveza (with The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra). Billboard Top Hits of 1939 chart for 7 weeks in 1939, top of Australia charts for the month of April 1940. VARIETY considered Beer Barrel Polka to be a "novelty" song. The sisters were reluctant to record the song since they grew up in the midwest and had heard more than their fill of it and other polka music. It is a good thing that they did record it, since it is one of their most popular songs, and on many of their albums.
